The Winter Conference in Statistics in Åre, 12-16 March, 2017, with topic Statistical analyses of big and high dimensional data – approached by Generalized Additive Models and Functional Data Analysis is now open for registration.
The Winter Conference in Statistics in Åre, 12-16 March, 2017, with topic Statistical analyses of big and high dimensional data – approached by Generalized Additive Models and Functional Data Analysis is now open for registration.
The three main speakers at the conference, Ana Maria Staicu (North Carolina State University), Jane-Ling Wang (University of California, Davis) and Simon Wood (University of Bristol), will give four hours of lectures each. The speakers will provide a comprehensive introduction to the subject together with highlights of recent advances in the research area. Therefore the conference is directed both to the experts in the area as well as scientists willing to learn new methodology.
The Winter Conference acts as an important platform and meeting place for statisticians in Scandinavia, where important topics are discussed. Through the years the Winter Conference has been the starting point for many new collaborations and research projects. The Winter Conference in Statistics has been arranged by Umeå University since 1968 and the Swedish Statistical Society (Svenska statistikfrämjandet) has been co-organiser since 2013. The conference consists of lectures, contributed sessions and a poster evening.
